Narrative Fragments started off with me collecting overheard conversation, mobile phone calls, quotes, graffiti and other assorted narratives and collating them into a book.
I decided I wanted to use ink and paint each quote by hand to give something as transient as a throw away statement a permanence that it might not have got otherwise. Some of the quotes did not seem impactful at the time but taken away from its original context and presented simply they took on a life of their own.
Tone of voice and reader perspective also have a large bearing on interpretation of the fragments which leads to questions about the society we live in.
